AI slop. 

I'm kinda into it. 

I am pleased with how my website is coming together. AI can be controversial and I know it's a double edged sword. And one has to wonder: what are the odds that this crazy shiny new sword is going to be wielded by the human race optimally? Ha. Oh man. (not good)

But.. it's so fun! Potential catastrophe is a problem for the future. For now, I'm into it. 

I'm not just using AI— I'm abusing it. I know I am. I vibe-coded a great deal of this site with AI. Vibe coding, as I understand it, is basically letting the AI write the code for you. Probably not the best thing to admit in my first post on a blog-type project meant to help me land a job, but ... it’s true. I've used it from writing nginx config files to CSS and everything in between. 

It's fun and addictive! Of course, it’s also wrong a lot. When reworking a prompt a few times doesn’t solve the problem, I (sigh) have to actually switch my brain on well, just a little bit. Which is probably for the best. AI can definitely be a tool or a crutch. 

I'm definitely getting dumber. I can feel it. Is getting dumber fun? Is that why this all feels so fun?

I digress. 

When it comes to AI there's no stopping it. I feel like the optimal trick is remembering to use and/or develop your own skills at least some of the time. Otherwise it's almost like trying to be an athlete by watching sports on TV. You'll never be a good athlete like that. You just gotta use your own effort sometimes! And you'll never be a good coder or engineer by never using your brain. The space is gonna change somehow, that's probably true. We all must be ready to change along with it if we need.  

But.. it IS fun. I’ve been cranking out silly little AI-generated videos, slapping AI soundtracks on them, and am entertained at the results. I'm sure it's lame AF to most people, but .. to me..  I love em! 

AI is only gonna get better too. It's already pretty good. Which is exciting and kinda scary. Will it help art and creativity or destroy it? Will it render me obsolete or enhance my abilities? Will it create jobs or are we heading into the greatest depression ever ? Will we ascend as a species or all die off? Were the terminator movies actually a prophecy??

I cannot say for sure one way or the other.

But on the bright side, at least while I await the end of the world, I can still make silly music videos for my site headers :)
